I will giving a new talk called “The Digital Monochrome Print” to the Royal Photographic Society Western Region Meeting in Gloucester. See the RPS Western Region site here.
The meeting on Sunday, 16th September, will be held in the Parish Rooms of Highnam Community Centre, Newent Road, Highnam, Gloucester. GL2 8DG. Doors open at 9.30 a.m., for a 10.00 a.m. start.
The talk is about how to take a digital colour file and making an exhibition quality monochrome print that has the look, taste and smell of a darkroom print.
The first half are print examples of the printing process from a raw colour file to an atmospheric monochrome print. After a coffee and comfort break as our American friends say I will be doing a how to session with my Laptop and a projector. I will be going through my approach to the creation of a luminous monochrome print in Photoshop and Lightroom.
This talk will also presented at Taunton Area meeting on 14th October and the Bath area meeting on the 11th November.
Below is were I started with this picture of ice flows, mountains and clouds taken at Jokulsarlon in Iceland.
The manipulation of this file to create the B&W version was done with Lightroom 4 only.
A big hello to all the new followers of my little blog this week.

Coincidentally, Andy, I’m giving two monochrome presentations to the Australian Photographic Society in a few days time during the annual conference. And I’m also considering the possibility of going to Iceland next year.

Any chance of you coming up to one of the East Midland clubs or central midlands even? I am sure a talk like this would be valuable across the regions.
