I can’t remember which one of Blake’s Songs of Innocence or Experience includes the lines about more people would attend church if there was a form of heating in the building and beer was served! Oh Rose thou art sick is also a quote from the rather odd William Blake. A rose is used a metaphor for the church.
This picture was taken in a little Welsh chapel. The names of the congregation have been painted on the pews where they sat each Sunday. Thinking about it there was a period in British history when there was a fine to be paid if you did not attend church or chapel. Therefore painting names on pews was an easy way to recognise who wasn’t there.
I wonder if John Davies Esq was a regular attender of this chapel near Ymwlch on the Cambrian coast?
This picture was taken with a Lumix G2 in the 16:9 aspect ratio.

Ha! Man, that gave me a chuckle. Mostly cause I honestly think it’s true. Some might say that I have a twisted morality in thinking that it’s actually a good idea…. Good thing I’m not a pastor… or is that a bad thing?
